What is difference between air-cooled chiller and water-cooled chiller?

Air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers are two types of cooling systems used in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) applications. The main difference between these two types of chillers is the way they remove the heat from the refrigerant.

An air-cooled chiller uses air as a cooling medium to remove heat from the refrigerant. It has a condenser coil that is cooled by a fan blowing ambient air over it. The heat is transferred from the refrigerant to the air, and the heated air is then discharged to the surrounding environment. Air-cooled chillers are typically used in smaller applications, as they have a lower cooling capacity than water-cooled chillers.

A water-cooled chiller, on the other hand, uses water as a cooling medium to remove heat from the refrigerant. It has a condenser that is cooled by circulating water through the condenser coils. The heat is transferred from the refrigerant to the water, and the heated water is then discharged to a cooling tower, where it is cooled and then recirculated back to the condenser. Water-cooled chillers are typically used in larger applications, as they have a higher cooling capacity than air-cooled chillers.

The choice between an air-cooled chiller and a water-cooled chiller depends on a variety of factors, including the size of the cooling system, the location of the system, and the cooling requirements. In general, air-cooled chillers are more suitable for smaller applications, while water-cooled chillers are more suitable for larger applications.
